Feeling defeated
So I am a trans guy, (obviously feel free to delete this post if this isn’t a space for men to be in) and lately I’ve been feeling especially defeated when it comes to birth control.
VERY positive IUD insertion!
After weeks of nervous anticipation, I had my first IUD (Paragard) placed this morning and I’m shocked at how easy the whole process was! It was quick (3-4 minutes in the stirrups) and virtually painless (aside from two dull aches when my cervix was measured & the device went in).
Has anyone had a GOOD experience with their IUD?!?
It seems like nearly everyone has a horror story from getting an IUD. I'm hoping to get one sometime this month, but I am honestly scared shitless from reading about everyone's experiences and i'm not so sure if it's worth it.
Anyone else get a terrible period "cramp climax" that ruins their day?
On day one of my period, I get a slow build up of cramps that escalates over a couple hours, sometimes some slight passing out, and then ends in dry-heaving/throwing up. Throw in some emergency bowel movements and the whole thing is just awful.

Last night my bf and I had sex, then he mildly freaked out when he found out I was on the placebo and he didn’t wear protection. I looked it up and I’m still protected even on placebo week. I have been consistent taking my pills, except for two days when I was sick. I have ADHD and that is a pretty good track record for me.
Hormonal birth control least likely to cause weight gain?
I'm in recovery from an ED, at a healthy weight but still easily triggered into restrictive habits. Currently, even the idea that birth control might lead to weight gain is enough to get me thinking about cutting out meals and I just am not advanced enough in my recovery to trust myself to not do that.

I don’t understand this either. I find the Pill, Shot, and Patch to be effective as is. Usually women will keep the Pill next to their nightstand or toothbrush to remember taking it, or have reminders in a convenient spot to get their next Shot or put on their next Patch. I don’t see how chewing gum will increase adherence.
