How can I contact California DMV?
You are not eligible to change your address online if you:
- Do not currently have a California DL/ID card.
- Do not have a social security number (SSN).
- Have a commercial driver’s license (CDL) issued by California and your residence address is in another state.
- Have an Army Post Office (APO) of Fleet Post Office (FPO) address.
- Have an address outside of the United States (U.S.).

With DMV offices serving a limited number of customers, providing services online is crucial. From renewing vehicle registration to changing your address, or driver’s license renewal (and much more), we’re continually adding new online services to meet your needs.
Go Paperless
You can now get your driver’s license/identification card renewal notices electronically. You must log in to or create a DMV account to sign up for your email renewal notices.
Partner Locations
Businesses authorized by DMV to handle certain registration services (renewals, plates and stickers, reports of sale, title transfers, etc.), often with much shorter wait times (if any!).
DMV Now Kiosks
Convenient self-service touchscreen machines in select DMV field offices and retail locations available for registration and driver’s license transactions.

Make an Appointment (Metropolitan Areas)
Most transactions at DMV offices in Carson City, Henderson, Las Vegas and Reno require an appointment. You may obtain a vehicle movement permit without an appointment.
