Gas is very corrosive and gaskets may let go. This may involve the removal or losing of the straps to check for tank leaks. Best bet is to place a box fan against the front of vehicle to blow the fumes away from you as you go under to investigate. Not a bad idea to keep an extinguisher handy also.

Do not let the gas leak go on, as it is very flammable, and you may wind up with a really hot car. I'd see if it is under warranty or recall protection first. If you have luck like me, it isn't.
