probably mineral stains from the dirt, or has a big load of grease still in it, just about any paint will paint it, I would look for matte white or something similar. There maybe a few folks on here who paint skulls that are stained or damaged, most of us work hard to get them as white as possible.

Mike P's favorite seems to be the white paint from the Dollar Store. He talks about it in his tutorials. Take a look at them and see if it specifies which one. I belive one of them does.

benmj- hey man just messing with you. lol. i'd do as seawolf says. here i have used lifetone lacquer paint the superhide white color for bright white touch ups, or you could do an off white or bass belly white whatever matches the color, but then you'd be buying 3 bottles of paint and you'd need an airbrush so you might have $100 tied into that.

if i were you i wouldn't paint it. just degrease and whiten the crap out of it and take your time, it will get at least decent white. decent white is better than a painted white.

I've painted a couple of old skulls just messing around and if not set on white, go lowes/hd and pick up Rustoleum "Hammered" copper spray paint.. looks pretty cool. If white, go to lowes and take your pick..many choices. I've never painted any clients' skulls
