Can I burn hydraulic fluid?

Hydraulic oils are not generally considered a serious fire hazard, because they have high ignition temperatures. This amounts, however, to a false sense of security, since spraying hydraulic oil will burn just as fiercely as other hydrocarbons.

What can I burn in my oil furnace?

Many residential and commercial oil furnaces are capable of burning either kerosene or heating oil. However, the differences in the post-distillation refinement process give these oils different advantages and disadvantages when they are used to heat buildings.

Can you mix hydraulic oil and motor oil?

Mixing oils with different additive packages is never recommended. Doing so could compromise the additive performance of both constituents, cause corrosion of component surfaces and lead to increased mechanical wear. Trending of some oil analysis properties also will be compromised.

At what temperature does hydraulic fluid break down?

Hydraulic Fluid Temperature Hydraulic fluid temperatures above 180°F (82°C) damage most seal compounds and accelerate degradation of the oil.

Are waste oil heaters worth it?
