Step 1

Make two 1/4-inch-diameter holes in the top of a plastic lid that fits snugly on a plastic jar. Use a drill to make the holes. Space them evenly. Put the lid back on the jar.

Step 2

Insert a 3-foot piece of 1/4-inch-diameter plastic tubing into one of the holes you drilled in the lid. One should rest on the bottom of the plastic jar. Remove the lid of the jar and attach an air stone to the end of the tubing. Air stones can be found at your local pet supply store.

Step 3

Add water to the jar. The amount will vary based on the size of the jar you are using; however, you want the jar two-thirds full. Place the lid back on the jar, with the air stone resting on the bottom of the container. Tighten the lid so that it is snug.

Step 4

Plug the other end of the tubing into an air pump. Attach the tubing to the outflow.

Step 5

Insert a second 3-foot piece of 1/4-inch-diameter plastic tubing into the second hole. This piece of tubing needs to rest 1 inch below the top of the lid. Ensure that it does not touch the water level. Adjust the placement as necessary.

Step 6

Insert the loose end of the second piece of tubing into your snake's enclosure. Feed it in either through one of the holes in the lid if you are using a metal mesh lid, or through the hose opening in the back of a plastic lid.

Step 7

Turn on the air pump. When you do this, you should see bubbles form inside the jar from the air stone. If you do not, adjust the connection of the tubing on the air pump. Once the bubbles appear, moisture will be forced into the enclosure through the other tube. Add additional water to the jar as needed.
