I Have many tops of cookie containers, as I used the containers for Chritmas arrangements for a program at our Garden Club, but would be interested if you had any craft ideas to make use of the lids. Thank you, Joan Hartzel
Can you recycle metals?
No, you cannot recycle these metals. You typically cannot recycle the following items either at home or at a public facility, so you’ll need to toss them into the regular trash bin. Metallic chip bags and candy wrappers that pop back to their original shape when you crumple them.
Do you have to rinse recyclables?
Good to know. Rinsing recyclables isn’t required, but it does help to keep pests and odors away. It can also make the recycling process easier for some facilities. It’s not necessary to remove labels from cans because they will be burned off during the recycling process.
What to do with old pots?
Old pots make very cute planters. Throw some rocks in the bottom for drainage and don't over water. You can also donate to day care centers for the children to dig with or put in a kitchen center.
Can you throw away mascara wands?
Please do NOT throw away your mascara wands. Instead, clean JUST THE WAND with dawn soap, place them in a ziploc bag and mail them to a Wildlife Refuge accepting donations. These little wands are able to be upcycled to clean away oil, larvae, fly eggs, mites, infections, mud and other contaminants from wildlife.
Can you recycle Pyrex glass?
If mixed with container glass, it would make the resulting material unusable. Unfortunately, there are few recycling options at this time for non- container glass.
Can you put plastic in the trash?
Check with your local recycling program; it’s likely you cannot put them in your curbside bin and will need to just put these items in the trash.
Is a pot a metal?
Your pots and pans are most likely nonferrous metal, made from aluminum, copper, or stainless steel. If they attract a magnet, though, they are ferrous metal. This matters because some recyclers only accept either ferrous or nonferrous metal.
