Is it hard to remove a phone line from a house?
I just had my phone line removed, and it wasn’t very hard. I recently purchased a home and the previous owners had the house resided within probably the past year or so. The bracket that attaches the line to the house and keeps it high off the ground was never put back, so the line hung very low.
Can I just cut the lines myself?
Verizon told me I could just cut the lines myself, I’ll be opening the box and removing/cutting 1 by 1 to avoid any potential shorts, taping each, and tucking excess into conduit. I’ll also be cutting conduit close to grade (maybe 6″), capping, and putting a note inside & outside the conduit so folks in the future know what it is.

Does Verizon charge to replace phone lines outside the House?
To be sure I called back and spoke with a guy named Matt who said that any of the lines outside of the house are owned by Verizon and they are 100% responsible for them so there would be no charge. (That’s a relief.) They only charge if they have to do something to the wiring inside the house.

The estimates I have gotten are two at Little over 8K, and one that is $16,000 and one that was $19,000 LOL. this is mostly labor only with maybe some small materials.
Just Replaced Windows
Updated with additional project details: I live in a 60 year old ranch house and the windows (26 of them) were single pane and very drafty. Very few of the original windows opened, and since we have so many windows we wanted every window to open, to take advantage of the cooler summer evenings.
In need of advice. My bathroom remodeling contractors severely messed up and I don't know how to handle it
I hired one of the highest reviewed bathroom remodelers in my area to re-tile my showers and replace the plumbing.
Do hardwired phone lines work?
Hardwired phone lines still work in a power outage , they are tied to your address so dispatch knows where you are (unlike a cell phone), and are an all-around safety net for people. I by no means am advocating for anyone to cut the lines to something that is important for their safety!
Does a landline give you the safety of an alarm system?
A landline will never give me the safety that the alarm system does. Not to mention, it does a bunch of other things like calling the fire department if the smoke detector goes off - even when I’m not home to smell the smoke. Plus, it’s the same if not cheaper to have security than a phone line!
