What kind of Cup does Jamba Juice use for smoothies?
Your drink will be served in a specially designed double-walled paper cup. That's because, back in August 2012, when fifth grader Mia Hansen ordered a smoothie at a Jamba Juice in Carlsbad, California, only to have it served to her in a polystyrene foam cup, she started a petition on Change.org asking the company to stop using foam cups.
Is Jamba Juice using Styrofoam containers?
Sensible or not, Jamba Juice is following a growing national trend whereby companies are shifting to paper food service containers from those made of polystyrene foam. (Polystyrene is the generic name for foam products; Styrofoam, a brand name owned by Dow Chemical, is mostly used in insulation.)

1. Split your cups
As some customers often point out, the smoothies aren’t cheap. A small (16 oz) Jamba Juice order typically costs around $5, plus a little extra if you add in multiple boosts. If you’re with a friend who wants the same drink, it saves a couple bucks if you buy a large (28 oz) size and ask to split it into two small cups.
2. Sub out unwanted ingredients
Don’t like the taste of soymilk? You can sub it out for almond or 2% milk instead! If there’s one ingredient in the drink that’s not working for you, the team members can switch it out for any other available ingredient used for other smoothies.
3. It's not a design-your-own smoothie
Though we can alter your drink, don't go too crazy on the substitutions. The smoothies on the menu follow a basic recipe, so they’re designed to always come out with the perfect consistency and color. However, the quality of the smoothie is sacrificed when customers tweak the recipe too much.
4. Know the "Goodness Guarantee"
If you don’t like your smoothie, don't be shy to tell a team member; they’ll make you another smoothie for no charge! Team members want to make sure you walk out of the store satisfied with your Jamba Juice order, so if the PB ‘N Jealous doesn’t taste as expected, ask for an always-reliable Mango A-Go-Go or another classic.
5. Most drinks aren't exactly healthy
Just because there’s fruit in a drink doesn’t mean it’s good for you. The classic smoothies have two scoops of sherbet (basically ice cream) and three scoops of fruit. However, drinks like Chocolate Moo’d or Orange Dream Machine have 4-5 scoops of sherbet, almost resembling milkshakes.
Customers driving change
The goal of Mia’s petition was simple; other Jamba Juice locations had already switched away from using polystyrene cups. For example, Seattle ’s local government passed a ban on EPS in 2008, forcing companies like Jamba Juice to find eco-friendly alternatives.
Jamba makes the switch
Within 3 weeks, Jamba Juice responded to the consumer outcry. They publicly committed to eliminating polystyrene cups and containers from their stores across the country and promised to switch to environmentally sound alternatives by the end of 2013.
Consumers cry out for sustainability
A 2018 Forbes article captures the powerful momentum of the sustainability movement. According to a survey by Futerra, 96% of people believe that they can make a difference by recycling and making buyer decisions with ethics and the environment in mind.
1. Caribbean Passion Smoothie
Maybe it’s just the image of Captain Jack Sparrow in my mind, but somehow, the words “Caribbean” and “passion” pretty much go hand-in-hand.
2. Strawberries Wild
This scrumptious strawberry smoothie takes a little bit longer to make than the Caribbean passion smoothie, so you may want to save it for mornings when you have a little extra time.
4. Aloha Pineapple Smoothie
This smoothie is about half country orchard and half tropical fruit grove.
5. Peach Pleasure
The peach pleasure is yet another five-ingredient, 3-minute smoothie that takes minimal effort to make but gives you a maximum amount of yumminess.
7. Mango Ginger Kale Green Smoothie
Here’s another option for those of you who like to balance your fruits and veggies. This smoothie truly has it all.
8. Acai Smoothie
It goes without saying that you’ve probably heard about all the amazing virtues and benefits you can get from acai berries.
9. Jamba Juice Mango-A-Go-Go
Mango-a-go-go is such a perfect name. I’m disappointed I didn’t think of it myself.
