My urologist told me (and it is not on the prescription but only verbally) to try to take my 0.4 mg capsule about "1/2 hour or so" after the same meal each day. The same time was the most important part. (I take 5 other pills, all to be taken at bedtime, so, I don't follow his advise always, sadly, as I am not always able to remember.

The tamsulosin stayed in my system for about 5 days - not 9-13 hours. I have no idea how this reduction in dosage would work for anybody else, but it works for me. Less is better. If the sexual side effects are your issue, then you absolutely need to reduce the dosage to the minimum.
