Scholars have seen strong influences from Near Eastern mythology and literature in the Odyssey. Martin West notes substantial parallels between the Epic of Gilgamesh and the Odyssey. This was a part time position while I was a student. It was a good way to broaden my portfolio, but it was an unpaid position and there was little room for growth. It is a good place to start if you want more writing experience under your belt!

I worked with the Odyssey that belonged to Flagler College. The editors of the online magazine were nice, but whether or not they did their job in editing and communicating with me any errors can be seen on my articles. It was a great learning experience, but I wish there were more interactions between writers and editors.
