Yes you can run with out a knock sensor without any problems if you are driving carefully. Its only there to sense knock and if you get too much it'll pull some timing out. All it is, is a safety measure so we dont blow our motors.
Will a bad knock sensor stop a car from running?
A damaged knock sensor will not stop your car from running immediately, but it will in short order. The first symptoms of a damaged knock sensor are decreased acceleration and a hot engine. You may also hear knocks from your engine. Your vehicle will start to eat up gas more quickly than expected. You may even notice a burning smell.
What does the knock sensor do on a Honda Accord?
The knock sensor is on constant sentinel mode, always ensuring that your engine is safe and running properly. A third thing it does is make certain your car is fuel-efficient. This is done by optimizing the amount of power to the engine via balancing the fuel-to-air mix.

The first symptoms of a damaged knock sensor are decreased acceleration and a hot engine. You may also hear knocks from your engine. Your vehicle will start to eat up gas more quickly than expected. You may even notice a burning smell. Overall, you will notice that your car is not performing the way it should.
How does a knock sensor work?
Your knock sensor will filter this waveform to detect the engine knock. If you do choose to purchase a replacement knock sensor yourself, or have a mechanic inquiring about the brand, you will want to be aware of what choices there are. Investing in one that is not reliable will just cost you more money in the long run.
Can I drive without the knock sensor?
In conclusion, you can drive with a bad knock sensor—that is, if you want to destroy your engine and get atrocious performance from your car. The moment you confirm that your knock sensor has seen better days, it would be wise to swap it right away with a high-quality replacement.
What happens if you disconnect knock sensor?
Disconnecting it will not give you any direct data. If there is a real knock problem, you could end up damaging the engine. Second, if there is an issue with the knock sensor itself, you'd most likely get a trouble code of P0325, which is about a circuit malfunction.

Does knock sensor affect performance?
A bad knock sensor may also not let the engine accelerate properly while driving on the highway, and cause the vehicle to lose fuel mileage. If you notice these things happening, you should have a certified mechanic from YourMechanic inspect why the car is slow to accelerate.

Can a knock sensor be reset?
If you have replaced the knock sensor, then defenitly reset your ECU. Once that is complete, you should have full power almost immediately. no nothing bad will happen from resetting your ecu. but it will take your engine about 50 miles (from my experience) to relearn everything.
What is the function of knock sensor?
The knock sensor identifies the high-frequency engine vibrations characteristic of knocking and transmits a signal to the ECU. The aim is to obtain the maximum energy yield by starting ignition as early as possible. Engines with a knock sensor can reduce fuel consumption and increase torque.
What causes a knock sensor to throw a code?
Knock sensors are solely used for the purpose of sensing when your engine is “knocking,” or sensing when the air/fuel mixture combusts prematurely. This delivers less power and can also damage the engine if prolonged. When the engine “knocks” there is also an excessive amount of NOx that is released.
how will car run with no knock sensor?
My 1995 ka24de swap had a broken knock sensor well the plastic as well as the wire. Would this do something like a bad o2 sensor? Will it set the timing way back and run rich? My wiring harness is from a 1992 so it is obd1. Car is running rich different injectors or regulator didn't change it. New fuel filter and o2 as well.
Re: how will car run with no knock sensor? (Unstock240)
My car ran rough at idle when my knock sensor was disconnected. I believe the cars ECU goes into a safe mode when the knock sensor is not connected and adjusts the cars air fuel ratios and timing.
Re: how will car run with no knock sensor? (Unstock240)
It will run fine, you might just loose a little power since the ecu may not allow as much timing advance. I know this is true for 300z's.It won't even throw the check engine light. But if you pull codes from the ecu, it will come up.
Re: how will car run with no knock sensor? (steve s14)
woah! thats totally wrong... what the knock sensor is supposed to do is retard the timing when it notices a knock in order to get rid of it... it can retard it up to 12 degrees. it will only NOT throw a code if it senses a knock and it does its job of retarding the timing... but if it is bad.. like mine is now, it WILL throw a code...

Re: how will car run with no knock sensor? (steve s14)
My car does run rough when I first start it up. I have to hold the gas for about 30secs then it will idle fine, if not it will die but runs decent for bad blowby. Thanks for the help everyone, I will get one eventually. I'm letting the car sit and going to rebuild it since the rings aren't doing well.
Re: how will car run with no knock sensor? (Unstock240)
I've been running no knock sensor for over a year lol. It's hard to tell if it makes any difference because my 240 has so many underlying problems. Everyone I've talked to says the only time that sensor changes anything is when it gets a signal that your engine is knocking. Otherwise, no problem.
What is knock sensor?

A knock sensor is one of those tiny components in your vehicle that you never notice until there is an issue. This sensor is located on the cylinder head, intake manifold, or engine block. And when an issue does arise, it requires an immediate response. A solid understanding of the functionality of your knock sensor is essential so you know ...
How do they detect engine knocks?
The second type is one that detects engine knocks via measuring the internal pressure of the cylinder. These types are typically alongside the spark plug.
