Summer Butterfly Releases
Take part in a butterfly release! One of Airlie’s Environmental Educators will be in our native Butterfly House to release butterflies and discuss their life cycle and our current species. In the event of rain, we will have an Educator in our classroom.

After exploring the Native Butterfly House, take a walk behind the model Airlie House to our Pollinator Garden! This garden was planted with flowering blooms that will specifically attract pollinator species year round; such as, butterflies, bees, moths, hummingbirds and more!

Welcome to SPCC’s helping hand to the local charity Butterfly House! Butterfly House is an abuse advocacy center in Albemarle, focused on helping children recover and heal from trauma. This center provides forensically sound interviews, helps with casework, and helps provide ways to move forward in difficult times.

In the fall semester of 2020, a class of five students led by Ansley Adams developed this website in dedication to The Butterfly House Children’s Advocacy Center.
ALL COLLEGE EXHIBITION
The All-College Art Exhibition is sponsored by Art Club and seeks to raise money for The Butterfly House. All artworks exhibited were completed by students, faculty, or staff of SPCC. Many artists are offering a high-resolution digital download of any image in the exhibition with a donation of $5 or more.

When is the butterfly house open?
Open seasonally May 15-October 15, the 2,700 sq ft. butterfly house features native butterflies of North Carolina. Summer butterfly releases are on Tuesdays at 2 pm from June 13 through August 22nd. Admission to the butterfly house is included with Garden entry fee. A unique experience of interacting and learning about Monarchs.
