Locate the "Learn" button on the overhead motor unit of your Liftmaster garage-door opener.
Step 2
Erase all previous codes from the overhead motor unit's memory. Note that this will require you to reprogram any previously programmed garage-door-opener remotes. Press and hold the "Learn" button for six seconds, or until the indicator light above the button goes out.
Step 3
Press and release the "Learn" button on the Liftmaster opener's overhead motor unit. The indicator light will turn on and glow for 30 seconds to signify that the unit is ready to be programmed.
Step 4
Press and hold the large button on the Genie remote to program it to your Liftmaster opener. Let go of the button when the main lights on the overhead motor unit flash, indicating that the remote programming has been successfully completed.

Press and hold the program button on the remote control until the LED on the front of the remote control turns on.
