But I've been wondering the opposite question- How many here have their original 4th gen CVT's still running well after 100k miles or more? What's the longevity record here for their original CVT?

I drove mine for about 215k km / 134k miles, maybe a little more with no issues. My problem (see previous posts) is still present at 228k km / 142k miles.

I am at 117k miles right now. Had to have the CVT in my 08 2.5S Sedan replaced around 100k. They said it had "burned itself up".

A multitude of factors will affect the lifespan of the 4th gen CVT (maintenance, driving style, climate, driving conditions, etc). If you can get 100k without any issues, on 2.5 that's pretty good -- as disgusting as this may sound.

just signed up and posted.......but have an 07 2.5s non hybrid with 125k just bought used....dont know history but betting no change of fluid....CVT finally died and car does not move anymore....not covered warranty ....and looking used...

Pardon for bumping an old thread, but FWIW- I was recently told by independent mechanic that this generation's Altima tranny's are very reliable??!!?. Did not believe it, but looked up in Consumer Reports 2017 "Detailed Used Car Reliability" article and its survey data supported my mechanic.

On one occasion it seemed to slip as there was a delay between when I was completely stopped to applying the gas (delay going into gear).
